Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union Congratulates Algeria on ASEAN Parliamentary Membership

Algiers – The Secretary-General of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, Ahmed bin Alawi Hafidh Baabood, sent a message of congratulations to the President of the People’s National Assembly and current head of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, Ibrahim Boughali, on Algeria’s accession to the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) as the sole observer member, according to a statement issued on Thursday by the Assembly.

The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union stressed that this achievement represents a milestone in Algeria’s parliamentary diplomacy, reflecting the country’s prestigious standing and its increasingly active role on both regional and international levels.

According to the statement, the Union highlighted that Algeria, with its historical legacy, spirit of struggle, and unwavering political will, is capable of strengthening cooperation and partnership with various parliamentary organizations around the world. This membership, it added, will pave the way for broader opportunities to exchange experiences and legislative expertise.

The Union further underlined that this new accomplishment will contribute to coordinating common positions, especially concerning peace, security, and sustainable development.
