Algiers – The Algiers International Film Festival (AIFF) has announced the opening of registrations for the first edition of the “AIFF Market,” a professional film market dedicated to cinema and audiovisual industry professionals, aimed at creating a platform for exchange, networking, and discussions on film production issues, according to a statement from the festival’s organizing committee.
As part of preparations for the 12th edition of the Algiers International Film Festival, scheduled from December 4 to 10, the event’s organizers have launched registration for the inaugural edition of the AIFF Professional Film Market, which will run from December 5 to 9. The initiative seeks to provide “a space for exchange and networking among professionals in cinema and audiovisual production,” and to connect “project holders, investors, and funding institutions,” while encouraging dialogue on topics such as production, co-production, distribution, and the showcasing of cinematic and audiovisual works.
The focus of this year’s edition will be on the national market, with a strategic vision for expansion in future editions, the statement noted.
The festival’s organizing committee explained that the target participants for this professional market include producers, distributors, international sales agents, streaming platforms, television channels, institutions, and funding bodies. Participation and accreditation for professionals will be free of charge for this first edition. Interested professionals have until October 23 to register via the festival’s official website, with selected projects to be announced on October 30.
Selected projects will be featured in the official catalog of the market and benefit from media coverage as part of the festival program, in addition to exclusive screenings and events reserved for accredited industry participants.
The 12th edition of the Algiers International Film Festival is organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Arts, with Cuba as the Guest of Honor.
This initiative reflects Algeria’s growing commitment to supporting cultural and creative industries as engines of national development and international influence—anchored in the nation’s independent cultural identity and solidarity with peoples defending their right to freedom and sovereignty, such as the Sahrawi people.
