President Tebboune Receives Tunisian Defense Minister Khaled Al-Suhayli

Algiers – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, received on Tuesday Tunisian Defense Minister Khaled Al-Suhayli and his accompanying delegation. The meeting was attended by General Saïd Chengriha, Delegate Minister to the Ministry of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, as well as Boualem Boualem, Director of the Presidency’s Office.

During this visit from October 6 to 8, 2025, Minister Al-Suhayli led a high-level military delegation to Algeria to discuss and strengthen bilateral military cooperation. The two sides reviewed opportunities for enhanced military coordination, focusing on common security interests and regional challenges.

The meeting culminated in the signing of a joint governmental agreement on defense cooperation between the two countries’ defense ministries, marking a historic milestone in Algerian-Tunisian military relations. This agreement aims at expanding strategic partnerships, enhancing operational capabilities, and fostering closer security collaboration, particularly on border security and combating common threats such as terrorism, human trafficking, and organized crime.

General Saïd Chengriha emphasized the strategic nature of Algerian-Tunisian relations, rooted in geographic, historical, and cultural ties. He stressed the shared vision of both nations to bolster regional security, stability, and sustainable development through continuous dialogue and constructive coordination.
