Ain Temouchent, Algeria – Law enforcement authorities in Ain Temouchent have successfully dismantled a criminal network involved in drug trafficking, seizing a significant quantity of cannabis. The operation, conducted by the Wilaya Judicial Police Service, resulted in the confiscation of 114 kilograms of processed cannabis and the arrest of two individuals.
According to a statement released by the Ain Temouchent police, the operation was executed by the anti-narcotics unit following an investigation that uncovered a scheme by an organized criminal group to smuggle a large shipment of cannabis originating from Morocco. Investigators identified a commercial vehicle being used to transport the illicit substance.
The vehicle was intercepted, and a thorough search revealed the drugs concealed within its structure. The two occupants were immediately taken into custody.
The operation, conducted under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Oran, also led to the recovery of 110 million centimes (Algerian currency), believed to be proceeds from the criminal activities.
The arrested individuals have been presented before the Republic’s Attorney at the specialized penal division in Oran, where they will face charges related to drug trafficking and organized crime. Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify and apprehend any other individuals connected to this network.
This successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts of Algerian law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and maintain security within the country.
