Algiers, November 5, 2025 – Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, received his Egyptian counterpart, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs, Badr Abdel-Aaty, today at the Ministry headquarters. Abdel-Aaty is currently on an official visit to Algeria.
The ministers held a private meeting followed by an expanded session with the participation of delegations from both countries. The meeting provided an opportunity for an in-depth assessment of the various dimensions of the historic fraternal relations and cooperation between Algeria and Egypt. This review occurred within the context of the positive momentum witnessed in these relations in recent years, aligning with the directives of the leaders of both nations, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The ministers also explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation ahead of the ninth session of the Joint High Committee, scheduled to be held in Cairo in the near future. This session is expected to unlock further potential for collaboration across various sectors.
Furthermore, discussions addressed the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories. Both ministers lauded the efforts exerted by their respective countries in defending the Palestinian cause, particularly Algeria’s important role within the Security Council and Egypt’s appreciated endeavors to convene an international conference for reconstruction in the Gaza Strip.
The two sides exchanged views and analyses on a range of current issues at the Arab and African levels, including the situations in Libya and Sudan, as well as developments in the Sahel region. Regional stability and cooperation were identified as key priorities for both nations. The talks emphasized a shared commitment to addressing challenges and promoting peace and security in the wider region.
