Weather Alert: Heatwave, Sandstorms, and Thunderstorms Across Several Algerian Regions

Algeria’s National Meteorological Office has issued a weather alert warning of intense heat, sandstorms, and thunderstorms affecting several provinces across the country.

According to a yellow-level (Level 1) alert, a severe heatwave is expected to impact the southern regions of El Oued, Touggourt, Ouargla, In Salah, and Adrar, where temperatures are likely to remain exceptionally high.

The same alert also warned of sandstorms in In Salah and Tamanrasset, which could significantly reduce visibility and disrupt daily activities, particularly in desert areas.

In addition, thunderstorms are forecast in several eastern and southwestern provinces, including Souk Ahras, Tebessa, Khenchela, Oum El Bouaghi, El Bayadh, Naâma, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, and In Guezzam.

Authorities are advising residents in the affected regions to remain cautious, especially due to the combination of extreme heat, strong winds, and potential storms, which may pose risks to safety and transportation.
