New Governors Installed in Algiers Administrative Districts

Algiers, November 8, 2025 – The Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transportation, Said Saayoud, presided over the installation ceremony of newly appointed governors for the administrative districts of Algiers today. The ceremony, held in the presence of the Governor of Algiers Province, marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to enhance local governance and development within the capital.

During the event, Abdel Fattah Ben Karkoura was officially installed as the Governor Delegate of the Cheraga administrative district. Mahrez Maamari assumed the position of Governor Delegate for the Dar El Beida administrative district, and Abdelmalek Zaidi was appointed as the Governor Delegate for the Sidi M’Hamed administrative district.

In his address, Minister Saayoud emphasized that the appointment of these new governors reflects the confidence placed in them by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. He stressed the importance of dedication and commitment to the state’s directives in local management. “These appointments are a testament to the President’s vision for a more efficient and responsive local administration,” Saayoud stated.

The Minister further urged the newly appointed governors to prioritize citizen engagement and to work collaboratively with local stakeholders to address the specific needs and challenges facing their respective districts. He highlighted the government’s commitment to providing the necessary resources and support to ensure the success of their mandates.
