Customs Officials Seize Over 10,000 Hallucinogenic Tablets in Laghouat

Laghouat – Algerian Customs officials operating within the jurisdiction of the Regional Directorate of Laghouat have successfully intercepted a significant drug smuggling operation, seizing 10,469 hallucinogenic tablets. The haul, consisting of “Pregabalin 300mg” tablets of foreign origin, was confiscated during three separate operations.

According to a statement released by the Regional Directorate of Customs, five individuals implicated in the smuggling ring have been apprehended. Authorities also seized the vehicles used in the attempted transportation of the illicit substances.

The Directorate emphasized that these operations are “part of ongoing field efforts to combat smuggling and organized crime.” They highlighted the collaborative nature of the operation, stating that it was carried out “in coordination with various security forces as part of a proactive plan aimed at protecting the national economy and society from various scourges.”

The source further asserted that these results reflect the “vigilance and professionalism of Algerian customs agents and their effective coordination with their security partners.” This collaboration, they added, strengthens the deterrent role of the sector in combating all forms of smuggling and trade in psychotropic substances across the national territory.
