The 10th edition of the International Fisheries and Aquaculture Show, SIPA 2025, officially opened today in Oran. The event is held under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and under the supervision of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and Fisheries, Yacine Mehdi Oualid.
Organized by the Algerian Chamber of Fisheries and Aquaculture in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Fisheries, SIPA is considered a premier economic and scientific event in Algeria and the region. It brings together professionals, investors, researchers, and start-ups with the aim of promoting the fisheries sector and developing the blue economy.
The Sultanate of Oman is the guest of honor for this edition, which runs from November 6th to 9th. The show features 180 exhibitors, including 25 foreign companies representing 17 countries, such as Spain, Italy, Turkey, Tunisia, and Oman, in addition to Bangladesh, which is participating for the first time. Professional delegations from African, Asian, and European countries are also in attendance.
Nationally, Algerian operators are participating across an area of 1844 square meters, including 38 start-ups representing the new generation of entrepreneurs. Thirteen of these start-ups benefited from free participation. Universities, research centers, banking institutions, and national insurance companies are also showcasing innovative offers and projects for the development of fisheries and aquaculture activities.
The Salon’s program includes scientific and technical workshops, B2B meetings between Algerian and foreign operators, and field visits. One such visit includes the Omani delegation, headed by the Minister of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries, and Water Resources, to the scientific vessel “Qarin Belkacem” and the Technological Institute of Fisheries in Oran.
This international event demonstrates the growing importance of SIPA as a leading platform for exchange, partnership, and innovation in the fields of fisheries and aquaculture, and its role in enhancing food security and the sustainability of marine resources.
