Algiers – Minister of Health, Mohamed Sidik Ait Mesoudane, received members of the National Union of Public Health Practitioners (SNPSP), led by Dr. Elias Mrabet, at the ministry headquarters on Thursday morning.
At the start of the meeting, SNPSP representatives extended their sincere congratulations to the Minister on his appointment to head the health sector, wishing him success in his duties.
The meeting served as an opportunity to raise the professional and social concerns of medical practitioners in public health. Discussions focused on priority issues, particularly those related to the fundamental laws and compensation systems for various medical corps within public health, including promotions, bonuses, allowances, and the right to practice trade unionism.
After listening to the concerns presented by the union representatives, the Minister affirmed that all demands would be carefully studied and considered by the relevant departments. He emphasized that the primary goal is to bring about tangible change on the ground that serves the interests of patients, healthcare professionals, and the health system.
The Minister presented the ministry’s roadmap, which is based on a comprehensive vision for modernizing the health sector. This includes reliance on digitalization, the electronic patient record, and the optimal utilization of the significant resources provided by the state to improve health services. He called for concerted efforts to achieve common goals and foster a culture of continuous dialogue.
The Minister also stressed the need to strengthen local health institutions with all necessary equipment and medical supplies while working to restore the role of the primary care physician. He affirmed that the health sector has significant potential to drive the system towards better performance if utilized within the new vision and roadmap set by the ministry.
The Minister revealed the activation of specialized inspection teams that will conduct periodic field visits to closely monitor the reality of health facilities and the working conditions of sector personnel.
