A new nation is poised to join the Abraham Accords, the series of normalization agreements with Israel, according to a statement made by US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. The official announcement is expected later today.
Witkoff revealed the impending development during the American Business Forum in Miami. “I will be returning to Washington this evening because we will be announcing tonight the addition of another country to the Abraham Accords,” he stated.
Previously, the US Special Envoy suggested that Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Libya, and Syria could potentially normalize relations with Israel through participation in the Abraham Accords.
The United States launched the initiative to normalize relations between Israel and Arab nations in 2020, resulting in a series of agreements known as the Abraham Accords. To date, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan have joined the Accords.
These agreements stipulate the normalization of diplomatic, commercial, tourism, and security relations between the signatory nations and Israel. Washington has hailed the Accords as a historic achievement contributing to peace in the Middle East.
White House representatives have expressed hope that more Arab countries will normalize relations with Israel. The addition of another nation to the Abraham Accords signifies continued momentum for the initiative.
Developing story, more to follow.
