National team coach Madjid Bouguera has clarified the reasons behind the inclusion of Islam Slimani and Ryad Boudebouz in the local squad. According to Bouguera, the veteran players were selected due to their extensive experience and their expected contribution to the team during the upcoming Arab Cup.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Nelson Mandela Stadium on Sunday, Bouguera stated that their presence in the local squad is part of a technical plan aimed at achieving a balance between experience and youthful enthusiasm within the team. He emphasized that “experience is a crucial element in such competitions.”
Regarding Youssef Belaili, Bouguera denied that his absence from the squad list indicates his exclusion from future plans. He suggested that the player is a strong contender to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations with the first team.
“Belaili is not absent in my view,” Bouguera added. “He is among the talents we need in the first team, given his great abilities to make a difference.”
