Algiers, November 8, 2025 – Two significant cooperation agreements were signed during the 10th edition of the Salon International de la Pêche et de l’Aquaculture (SIPA 2025), marking a step forward for the Algerian fishing and aquaculture sectors.
The agreements, facilitated by the National Chamber of Fisheries and Aquaculture (CNPA), aim to bolster collaboration in marketing aquaculture products and supporting young entrepreneurs in the blue economy.
The first agreement, signed between the CNPA and the National Livestock Feed Office (ONAB), focuses on the promotion and distribution of freshwater aquaculture products, particularly red tilapia. Nabil Aouich, Director General of CNPA, and Hama Houssameddine, Deputy Director General of ONAB, formalized the partnership, which will see red tilapia integrated into ONAB’s nationwide sales network. Aouich emphasized that this initiative addresses marketing challenges faced by producers, ensuring stable distribution channels and market stability for products like red tilapia.
The second agreement, signed by CNPA’s Nabil Aouich and Souad Ben Djemil, Director General of the National Agency for Microcredit Management (ANGEM), aims to support young project holders in the blue economy through training and funding for micro-enterprises. Ben Djemil stated that ANGEM will provide training in aquaculture and business management, as well as financial support for projects valued up to 1 million dinars.
These agreements reflect ongoing efforts to support the development of the fishing and aquaculture industry and to encourage youth involvement in this promising economic sector, according to the Director General of the National Chamber of Fisheries and Aquaculture.
