Algerian Migration: A Legacy of Resistance, Says Expert

Algiers, Algeria – Professor Hassan Maghdouri, Director of the Mujahid Museum, has asserted that Algerian migration represents far more than a simple demographic shift across the Mediterranean. In a recent statement, Professor Maghdouri emphasized that it is intrinsically linked to the nation’s history of resistance, remaining a vibrant and active component of the national narrative.

According to Maghdouri, the story of Algerian migration is interwoven with the broader struggle for national liberation and self-determination. He highlighted the sacrifices and resilience displayed by Algerians who sought opportunities abroad, often facing significant challenges and discrimination.

“Algerian migration is not just about individuals seeking better lives; it is a testament to the unwavering spirit of a people determined to overcome adversity and contribute to their nation’s progress, even from afar,” Professor Maghdouri stated.

Furthermore, Professor Maghdouri addressed the ongoing denial of the historical significance of Algerian migration by certain extremist factions. He condemned these attempts to erase or distort the experiences of Algerian migrants, characterizing them as a continuation of historical injustices.

“The denial of our history, including the vital role of migration in our national identity, is a form of aggression. We must remain vigilant against these attempts to rewrite the past and ensure that the contributions and sacrifices of Algerian migrants are never forgotten,” he concluded.

The Mujahid Museum, under Professor Maghdouri’s direction, is actively working to preserve and promote the history of Algerian migration through exhibitions, research, and educational programs. The museum aims to foster a deeper understanding of the complex realities of migration and its enduring impact on Algerian society.
