Algerian Army Deals Decisive Blows to Terrorism, Organized Crime

Algiers – In a sustained effort to safeguard national security and combat organized crime, the Algerian People’s National Army (ANP) has released its operational report for October 2025, highlighting the readiness and coordinated efforts of its units nationwide.

The report details significant successes in dismantling terrorist networks and curbing illegal activities.

Eliminating Terrorist Threats

According to the ANP statement, military forces neutralized one terrorist and apprehended seven others during the month. Furthermore, two terrorists who had been under judicial pursuit for several years surrendered to authorities. Twenty-two individuals providing support to terrorist groups were also arrested, dealing a significant blow to extremist organizations attempting to destabilize the country.

Combating Smuggling and Drug Trafficking

In related operations, authorities detained 242 drug traffickers and thwarted numerous smuggling attempts. 1,691 undocumented migrants of various nationalities were also apprehended. Security forces seized 34.54 quintals of treated cannabis, 85.16 kilograms of cocaine, and over 2.2 million psychotropic pills, demonstrating the government’s commitment to combating the drug trade.

Seizure of Equipment and Vehicles

The ANP also confiscated 816 jackhammers, 1,151 generators, and three metal detectors used in illegal gold mining, along with 156,667 liters of smuggled fuel. Regarding transportation, 181 vehicles of various types were seized, in addition to 68 hunting rifles and five war weapons used in terrorist operations.

Demonstrating Field Readiness

These results reflect the ongoing success of the ANP in combating terrorism and organized crime through continuous field operations and close coordination with various security agencies. The Algerian army continues to implement its strategy of securing borders and pursuing criminal gangs, ensuring the protection of citizens and the preservation of national stability.
