Industry Minister Inspects Brick Factory Rehabilitation in Adrar

Adrar, Algeria – The Minister of Industry, Yahia Bechire, accompanied by the Governor of Adrar Province, Dhouifi Fodil, commenced a field visit to the region with an inspection of the brick factory located in Fenoughil. The factory is owned by the Algerian Industrial Company for Building Materials (SIMCA), a subsidiary of the Cement Industry Group and its Derivatives (GICA).

During the visit, the Minister received a detailed presentation on the project’s status, the progress of the rehabilitation work, and the technical and organizational challenges hindering its completion. He then toured the factory’s production lines, observing the ongoing work and the equipment being installed. Technical explanations were provided regarding the factory’s production capacity and prospects for resuming operations.

The rehabilitation process has reportedly achieved significant progress, reaching approximately 80% completion. This advancement is attributed to a partnership with the public company SME Est, responsible for executing the works and restarting the production lines, under the supervision of GICA and SIMCA. The rehabilitation adheres to modern technical standards and approved quality criteria.

The Minister issued directives to accelerate the pace of work to ensure the factory’s reopening as soon as possible. This is expected to contribute to the creation of new jobs and support industrial and developmental activity at the local level.

These efforts align with the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to revitalize unexploited industrial assets and resume production activity in various provinces, particularly in the southern regions. The aim is to strengthen economic dynamism and promote regional equity in development.

This factory is classified as a recovered industrial asset and is currently undergoing rehabilitation to integrate it into the local industrial fabric and contribute to the development of the building materials sector in the region. The successful reactivation of this facility is seen as a key step in boosting the local economy. The project reflects the government’s commitment to industrial revitalization.
