Algeria Engages Diaspora Expertise in Renewable Energy Drive

Algiers – The Algerian government is actively engaging its diaspora community to bolster its efforts in renewable energy and sustainable development. Sofiane Chaib, Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of the National Community Abroad, participated in the opening ceremony of the third international workshop on Renewable Energies and Green Hydrogen on Monday.

The two-day workshop, organized by the Algerian Club for Excellence and High Competencies, brought together national experts from abroad, particularly those active in the field of renewable energies.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Chaib emphasized the special attention the Algerian state gives to the national competencies within its diaspora. He highlighted the strategic policies and programs aimed at strengthening their ties with the homeland and encouraging their contribution to the national development effort, especially in supporting the energy transition and achieving sustainable development.

Mr. Chaib lauded the unwavering commitment of Algerian experts abroad to their country, emphasizing their willingness to share their scientific expertise and technical experience. He affirmed the Ministry’s top priority is to support this growing trend and provide the utmost care to enhance the developmental role of this segment of Algerian citizens living abroad.

The government views the diaspora as a crucial resource in achieving its ambitious renewable energy goals. This workshop serves as a platform to connect local initiatives with the expertise and experience residing within the Algerian community abroad, fostering collaboration and accelerating the nation’s transition towards a sustainable energy future.
