Algeria Participates in Angola’s 50th Independence Anniversary

Luanda, Angola – Algeria is participating in the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of Angola’s independence. Azzouz Nasseri, the President of the Council of the Nation (Algerian Senate), arrived in Luanda this evening to represent Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune at the commemorative events.

The celebrations, scheduled for November 11th and 12th, 2025, will be held in the Angolan capital.

Nasseri was received at Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport by Domingos Custodio Vieira Lopes, the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities Abroad, and Mounir Bouraoui, the Algerian Ambassador to Angola. Professor Makhlouf Sahel, Chief of Staff to the President of the Council of the Nation, accompanied Nasseri on the trip.

The participation of a high-level Algerian delegation underscores the strong and enduring relationship between Algeria and Angola. This anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect on the shared history and mutual support that have characterized bilateral relations between the two nations for decades. Algeria has long been a supporter of Angola’s sovereignty and development.

The presence of President Nasseri highlights Algeria’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties and fostering cooperation with Angola across various sectors.
