ARPCE Warns Citizens About Uncertified Mobile Phones

Algiers – The Postal and Electronic Communications Regulatory Authority (ARPCE) has issued a warning to Algerian citizens regarding the purchase and use of uncertified mobile devices. The authority emphasizes the significant technical and health risks associated with these non-compliant devices.

In an official statement released today, the ARPCE highlighted that unapproved devices, which have not undergone the necessary technical testing, can lead to communication disruptions, particularly during critical situations. This includes potential failures in accessing emergency numbers for police, civil protection, and ambulance services.

Furthermore, the ARPCE pointed out that uncertified devices may experience compatibility issues with national network operators. Such issues can result in degraded voice quality and internet service, as well as the potential for exceeding safe radiation limits, posing a direct threat to user health.

To mitigate these risks, the ARPCE urges all consumers to verify the presence of the official certification label on any device before purchasing it. This label should clearly display the phrase “Approved by ARPCE” or “Certified by ARPCE,” followed by the authority’s unique certification number.

The regulatory body stresses that the presence of this label is the sole guarantee of a device’s safety and compliance with the technical and regulatory standards in force in Algeria. The ARPCE strongly advises citizens to purchase their devices from trusted and authorized sources to ensure they are using safe, compliant telecommunications equipment.
