The number of players excused from participating in the Algerian national football team’s training camp, currently being held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, has increased. This camp is in preparation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Morocco from December 21st to January 18th.
The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) announced that defender Mohamed El Amine Togai, a player for Esperance Tunis, will be absent. Medical examinations revealed that he is not fit to participate in the upcoming friendly matches.
A statement from the FAF clarified that, in consultation with national team coach Vladimir Petkovic, it was decided to release the player from the camp to prevent further aggravation of his injury and allow him to continue treatment with his club. Togai’s absence is a setback for the team’s preparations.
The Greens are scheduled to play two friendly matches during this training camp. The first will be against Zimbabwe on November 13th, followed by a match against Saudi Arabia on November 18th. These matches are part of the team’s preparation program for the continental competition.
The coaching staff will now need to adapt their plans in light of Togai’s unavailability. Further updates regarding potential replacements may follow.
