Algeria is actively pursuing stronger ties with Uganda in the pharmaceutical sector, signaling a commitment to enhanced South-South cooperation. Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Wassim Kouideri, recently met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to Algeria, John Chrisotom Alintuma Nsambu, at the ministry headquarters to discuss avenues for collaboration.
The meeting provided a platform for both parties to exchange perspectives on bolstering cooperation and partnerships in the pharmaceutical industry. This aligns with the shared desire of both nations to elevate economic relations, reflecting the aspirations of their respective leaders.
A key outcome of the discussions was the agreement to prepare a cooperation agreement between the Algerian National Agency for Pharmaceutical Products and its Ugandan counterpart. This agreement will focus on mutual recognition and the exchange of expertise in regulatory and supervisory matters. The aim is to streamline the export of Algerian pharmaceuticals to the Ugandan market, thereby fostering stronger South-South cooperation.
This initiative is part of Algeria’s broader economic strategy to expand its presence in African markets. The country aims to establish partnerships based on mutual benefit and integration within the pharmaceutical sector. Algeria is committed to building strong relationships with its African partners.
The potential agreement highlights Algeria’s dedication to strengthening its pharmaceutical industry and expanding its reach within the African continent. The initiative promises to create new opportunities for both countries, fostering economic growth and development.
