Gaza City – Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has issued a stark warning regarding the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, describing it as “appalling” despite a month having passed since the fragile ceasefire. The organization cites ongoing violations and severe restrictions imposed on the entry of humanitarian aid as key factors contributing to the crisis.
Caroline Seguin, MSF’s emergency coordinator, stated that “many Palestinians are risking their lives daily trying to return and check on their homes.” She highlighted that major hospitals remain within areas controlled by the military, making access to healthcare “nearly impossible.”
Seguin emphasized that essential aid, including medicines, shelter materials, and hygiene supplies, is being obstructed. “The current suffering is entirely avoidable if aid were allowed to enter without restrictions,” she asserted.
According to MSF, thousands of displaced individuals are living in tents lacking basic necessities such as water and electricity. Accumulation of waste and the spread of skin, respiratory, and digestive diseases are rampant, raising concerns about a worsening humanitarian catastrophe as winter approaches.
The organization is urgently calling for the immediate and unconditional entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. MSF warns that the current situation “threatens an unprecedented humanitarian disaster” unless the international community intervenes to enforce respect for the ceasefire and ensure the protection of civilians. The lack of essential resources is pushing the population to the brink.
MSF stresses that the ongoing restrictions not only impede the delivery of life-saving assistance but also undermine the already fragile healthcare system, leaving vulnerable populations at greater risk.
