Ibrahim Boughalli, Speaker of the National People’s Assembly, confirmed that 2023 will be the year to revive relations with the parliaments of Latin America, especially those that share Algeria’s values of defending just causes.
Boughalli said on Thursday, during his reception of the Ambassador of Peru to Algeria, Jorge Wurst, at the Assembly headquarters, that the Algerian Parliament is looking to strengthen its relations with its Peruvian counterpart in this framework, expressing his satisfaction with the bilateral relations based on understanding and solidarity.
Boughalli called for the need to revive these relations, especially on the economic and commercial levels, explaining that the friendship groups can give the necessary momentum to the consultation path between the two countries, which are invited to further coordinate in the major forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Parliamentary Network of Non-Aligned Countries.
The Speaker of the Assembly reminded that Algeria will remain faithful to its principles based on peaceful approaches to resolving conflicts, rejecting violence and foreign interventions in the affairs of states, in addition to its keenness to defend just causes, as is the case with the Palestinian and Sahrawi issues.
For his part, the Peruvian Ambassador confirmed that he believes that popular power can be one of the most important factors in the success of cooperation relations between countries, expressing his satisfaction with meeting Ibrahim Boughalli as the head of an institution that represents the people.
Ambassador Wurst confirmed that he will also work to smooth out the necessary relations between the parliaments of Peru and Algeria, renewing his keenness to establish a communication channel between the peers of the parliaments of the two countries immediately after the completion of the process of renewing the office of the Peruvian Congress.
The Ambassador of Peru in Algeria expressed his sharing of the idea of the need to strengthen the role of parliamentary diplomacy as a complement to the ongoing work to consolidate the edifice of bilateral relations and build fruitful cooperation on all levels.
