Strong Winds Expected to Hit Eleven Algerian Provinces

Algiers, November 12, 2025 – Eleven provinces in Algeria are bracing for strong winds, according to a weather alert issued by the National Meteorology Office. The alert, released today, warns of potentially hazardous conditions across several western and interior regions of the country.

The provinces of Ain Temouchent, Tlemcen, Mostaganem, Oran, Mascara, and Relizane are expected to experience wind speeds exceeding 80 kilometers per hour. The strong winds are forecast to begin at 9:00 AM tomorrow, Thursday, and continue until 6:00 AM on Friday.

The National Meteorology Office has also issued a separate warning for the provinces of Naama, Sidi Bel Abbes, El Bayadh, Tiaret, and Saida. In these areas, wind speeds could surpass 90 kilometers per hour. This period of intense winds is expected to last from 9:00 AM tomorrow, Thursday, until midday on Friday.

Residents in the affected provinces are advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their property. This includes securing loose objects, avoiding unnecessary travel, and staying informed about the latest weather updates. Authorities are also urging caution for drivers, particularly on highways and exposed areas, due to the risk of reduced visibility and strong crosswinds. The National Meteorology Office will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
