Algiers, November 12, 2025 – The Ministry of Health has issued a statement today addressing recent reports circulating regarding cases of scabies in the country. The Ministry urged citizens to rely solely on official sources for information related to public health matters.
The statement acknowledged that some media outlets and social media platforms have been disseminating information about isolated scabies cases, which the Ministry believes has been unduly sensationalized. The Ministry emphasized that these cases are limited in scope and are being effectively managed through medical care, monitoring, and isolation protocols, particularly within school environments.
“The Ministry of Health has observed, over the past 48 hours, news circulating through certain media outlets and social media platforms that clearly exaggerate isolated and fully controlled cases of scabies,” the statement read. “This exaggeration is unwarranted given the actual health situation, which is not alarming.”
The Ministry stressed that the isolated occurrence of certain diseases is a normal phenomenon observed globally. It cautioned against relying on sensationalized reporting that does not accurately reflect the current public health status.
The Ministry of Health reassured the public that the situation does not warrant the level of media attention it has received. The statement reiterated the importance of verifying information with official health sector sources before drawing conclusions or spreading concerns. The ministry urges citizens to consult official channels for accurate and up-to-date information on all health matters.
