Khalida Boufadache: From Medicine and Public Health to Algeria’s Parliamentary Leadership

Algeria’s National People’s Assembly has published the biography of its newly elected president, Khalida Boufadache, highlighting a professional and public career that combines medicine, healthcare administration, political engagement, and public service.

Born on May 27, 1982, Boufadache is married and has two daughters. She graduated as a general practitioner from the University of Algiers in 2008. She later obtained a specialized studies diploma in allergology and clinical immunology in 2019, while continuing additional training in medical and administrative fields related to her career.

She began her professional journey at the public hospital in Aïn Taya before working in other healthcare institutions. She later joined the Beni Messous University Hospital, where she pursued further specialization in allergology and clinical immunology and subsequently assumed administrative responsibilities within the health sector.

Since 2023, Boufadache has served as head of department at the Algiers Provincial Health Directorate, adding senior administrative experience to her medical background.

Alongside her healthcare career, she became active in local politics. She was elected to the Bordj El Bahri Municipal People’s Assembly for the 2012–2017 term and later became a member of the Algiers Provincial People’s Assembly in 2021. She has also served on several boards and bodies connected to the health sector.

Politically, Boufadache is a member of the National Liberation Front and sits on the party’s Central Committee. She also chaired the Women’s Committee in the Dar El Beïda local party branch, where she contributed to organizational activities, women’s political participation, and greater female involvement in public life.

Her participation in scientific and professional bodies further reflects her continued interest in developing her expertise and contributing to her fields of specialization.

Her election as President of the National People’s Assembly represents the latest stage in a career spanning medicine, administration, local government, party activity, and national public service.
