Algiers, Algeria – The Ministry of Health has issued a statement addressing recent reports circulating in some media outlets and social media platforms concerning isolated cases of scabies. The Ministry characterized the coverage as an unwarranted and excessive exaggeration of the situation.
According to the statement, the Ministry has been closely monitoring the situation and emphasizes that the reported cases are isolated incidents that are fully under control. The Ministry assures the public that appropriate medical care, follow-up, and isolation measures within school environments are being implemented to manage the situation effectively. The Ministry reiterated that the overall health situation does not warrant public concern.
The Ministry of Health expressed its regret over what it described as a “biased and inflated media portrayal” of the situation. It stated that this type of reporting has contributed to the spread of unnecessary anxiety among citizens. The Ministry emphasized that the occurrence of isolated cases of certain diseases is a normal phenomenon observed in all countries worldwide.
“It is important to remember that isolated cases are not a sign of a wider outbreak. Our systems are in place to control the spread of any disease,” a ministry spokesperson noted.
The statement concluded by urging citizens to obtain information from official sources within the health sector and to refrain from relying on inaccurate news or unverified publications. The Ministry encourages the public to consult with healthcare professionals and refer to official Ministry announcements for accurate and up-to-date information on health-related matters.
The Ministry remains committed to safeguarding public health and ensuring the well-being of all citizens.
