Algiers, Algeria – Authorities in Algiers have issued an urgent appeal to the public for assistance in identifying victims and witnesses related to a fraud case. The appeal, spearheaded by the administrative district of Bab El Oued, focuses on a suspect believed to have impersonated a public sector employee to defraud citizens.
According to a statement released by the Algiers police, the suspect, identified as (A.A.), is accused of using a false identity to gain the trust of his victims and subsequently steal their money. The appeal, authorized by the Bab El Oued court and based on Article 26 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, aims to uncover the full extent of the alleged fraud.
Law enforcement officials emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and that they believe there are additional victims who have not yet come forward. They urge anyone who may have been defrauded by the suspect, or who possesses any information related to the case, to immediately contact the Wilaya Judicial Police Service – Lower Casbah Urban Security, under the administrative district of Bab El Oued, or their nearest police station across the country.
“Any information, no matter how small, could prove crucial in bringing this individual to justice and preventing further acts of fraud,” a police spokesperson stated.
This appeal underscores the national security strategy of fostering collaboration between law enforcement and the public to combat increasingly sophisticated fraud schemes, particularly those involving impersonation of public officials.
