Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Youssef Belmahdi, returned to Algeria today following a visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He was accompanied by the Director General of the National Office of Hajj and Umrah, Tahar Braik.
The visit concluded after their participation in the Hajj Conference and Exhibition held in Jeddah from November 9th to 12th. Upon arrival at Houari Boumediene International Airport, the Minister and Director General were greeted by senior officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments and the National Office of Hajj and Umrah. This reception highlights the official commitment to monitoring and organizing Hajj affairs.
The participation in the conference underscores the ongoing cooperation and coordination between Algeria and the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. The aim is to facilitate the exchange of expertise in organizing Hajj affairs and serving pilgrims.
A significant outcome of the visit was the signing of the Hajj agreement for the 1447 AH/2026 season. This agreement is designed to strengthen the partnership and cooperation between the two countries, ensuring the best possible conditions for Algerian pilgrims during the upcoming season. The agreement outlines key provisions related to accommodation, transportation, and other essential services.
Minister Belmahdi emphasized the importance of this agreement in further improving the Hajj experience for Algerian citizens. He highlighted the commitment of the Algerian government to providing comprehensive support and assistance to pilgrims throughout their journey.
The National Office of Hajj and Umrah is expected to release further details regarding the Hajj season 1447 AH/2026 in the coming months.
