Algerian Constitutional Court and Indonesian Constitutional Court Sign MoU

President of the Algerian Constitutional Court Omar Belhadj is participating in the International Conference of Chief Justices on the topic of “Strengthening Democracy through the Indonesian Constitutional Court: Past, Present, and Future.” The conference will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia, from August 9-11, 2023, to mark the 20th anniversary of the Indonesian Constitutional Court.

The conference is an opportunity to discuss ways to establish and strengthen relations of friendship and cooperation with similar constitutional institutions. Several constitutional courts and councils from different continents will participate in the event, including Turkey, South Africa, Angola, and Kazakhstan.

President Belhadj is expected to give a speech on the topic of “The Role of the Constitutional Court in Strengthening Democratic Principles: Past, Present, and Future.” He will review the development of constitutional justice in Algeria and the progress it has made in consolidating the principles of democratic governance and the rule of law.

President Belhadj will also take this opportunity to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Algerian Constitutional Court and its Indonesian counterpart to establish a framework for cooperation and exchange of expertise in the field of constitutional law and constitutional justice.
