Parliament Unanimously Approves Military Honors Law

Algiers – The National People’s Assembly has unanimously approved two draft laws pertaining to military honors within the People’s National Army (ANP). The vote took place during a public session held Wednesday.

Members of Parliament (MPs) voted in favor of a draft law establishing new military decorations and honors within the ANP. This legislation aims to recognize and reward exceptional service and dedication within the armed forces.

Furthermore, the Assembly also approved a draft law that amends and supplements Law No. 86-04, dated February 11, 1986. This existing law concerns the establishment of the National People’s Army Medal. The amendments are intended to refine the criteria and procedures for awarding this prestigious honor, ensuring it continues to reflect the highest standards of military excellence.

Prior to the vote, leaders of the parliamentary blocs reached an agreement to support both draft laws unanimously. This consensus was achieved following a meeting held at the headquarters of the FLN (National Liberation Front) bloc. The unified support underscores the importance placed on recognizing the contributions of the ANP and upholding the integrity of the military honors system.

The passage of these laws is seen as a significant step in strengthening morale and fostering a culture of achievement within the Algerian military. By creating new avenues for recognition and refining existing honors, the government aims to incentivize excellence and dedication among service members.
