Algiers, Algeria – Strong winds are expected to sweep across 19 provinces in central and western Algeria, according to a special weather alert issued by the National Meteorological Office today, Friday. The alert warns of gusts reaching speeds of up to 90 kilometers per hour.
The provinces affected by the level one and two weather warnings include Chlef, Ain Defla, Blida, Medea, Tipaza, Algiers, Boumerdes, Naama, Sidi Bel Abbes, northern El Bayadh, Tiaret, and Saida. Also impacted are the provinces of Tissemsilt, Laghouat, Relizane, Mostaganem, Djelfa, Tlemcen, and Mascara.
Meteorological authorities indicate that wind speeds will generally range between 60 and 70 km/h, with the possibility of exceeding 90 km/h in certain areas. The weather alert remains in effect until Friday evening.
