Algeria’s Civil Defense units are actively engaged in combating a series of wildfires that have erupted across several provinces. As of Friday morning, authorities reported a total of 29 fires affecting various regions of the country. Significant progress has been made, with 17 fires completely extinguished. Three additional fires are currently under surveillance to prevent reignition, while efforts continue to suppress the remaining nine active blazes.
In Tipaza province, firefighters are working tirelessly to contain a forest fire in the Douar Boukhlidja area of Errahhat municipality. A substantial response has been mobilized, including seven fire trucks, a ground team, and a bus. Reinforcements have arrived from Ain Defla, Boumerdes, and Relizane provinces, consisting of three mobile columns. A BE200 firefighting aircraft is also assisting in the operation. Efforts are also ongoing to extinguish a forest fire in Bouzoula, Cherchell, where an operational command center has been established, overseen by the Director-General of Civil Defense.
Elsewhere, in Medea province, ten fire trucks are deployed to tackle a forest fire in the Khazroun area of El Hamdania municipality. In Tizi Ouzou, a brush fire along the Ait Argan road towards Wassif in Ait Tudert municipality has been successfully extinguished.
Further west, in Tlemcen province, a brush fire in the Kedia area of Tlemcen municipality has been brought under control and is being monitored. Another brush fire in the Ouled Ben Ziane village of Beni Mestar municipality has also been extinguished. However, firefighting operations are still in progress to suppress a forest fire in the Kalaa area of Tlemcen municipality.
Civil Defense units in Bejaia are working to extinguish a brush fire in the Ikhthmane area of Boukhelifa municipality. In Chlef province, efforts continue to control a forest fire in the Boukhendak area of Sidi Akkache municipality. Meanwhile, in Algiers, firefighters have successfully extinguished two brush fires in Haidara and Mohamed Belouizdad. Similar fires were extinguished in Jijel and Blida provinces.
The Civil Defense continues to monitor the situation closely and deploy resources as needed to protect lives and property.
