Tragic Day in Algeria: Accidents Claim Lives, Injure Many

Algiers, Algeria – A series of unfortunate incidents across Algeria on Friday resulted in fatalities and injuries, highlighting the need for increased vigilance and safety measures. Authorities responded to a truck accident, a vehicle rollover, and a carbon monoxide poisoning incident in separate regions of the country.

In Bordj Bou Arreridj, civil protection units responded to a serious traffic accident at approximately 4:35 PM local time. A truck veered off National Route 60A in the municipality of El M’hir, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. The victims were transported to the morgue at the local hospital. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident.

Further south, in Adrar province, a devastating vehicle rollover occurred on National Route 06 in the municipality of Reggane. Emergency services arrived at the scene around 2:38 PM and discovered that a car had overturned, leading to the death of one person at the scene. Two other individuals sustained injuries of varying severity and were promptly treated and transported to a local hospital for further medical attention.

In Annaba, a family of six was hospitalized after suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning. The incident occurred in an apartment in the 2000 housing complex in Draa Errich, Wadi El Annab municipality, due to a leak from a water heater. Civil Protection units intervened at 3:13 PM to assist the family, whose members ranged in age from 2 to 33 years old. All six individuals were experiencing respiratory distress and received initial treatment before being transported to a local hospital. Authorities are urging residents to ensure proper ventilation and regular maintenance of gas appliances to prevent similar incidents.
