Algiers – The Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transportation, Said Saayoud, unveiled a comprehensive national plan aimed at revolutionizing transportation across Algeria. The announcement, made before Parliament, outlined a vision focused on strategic and economic development to foster sustainable growth and improve the lives of Algerian citizens.
The Minister emphasized that the proposed policies are designed to enhance the quality of public services for travelers and boost the efficiency of the national transportation system. This initiative will contribute significantly to supporting the national economy and strengthening the country’s transportation infrastructure.
Key aspects of the plan include the development of land and air transport networks across various states, with a strong emphasis on comprehensive digitization of services. This digitization effort aims to streamline the movement of citizens and improve the overall transportation experience.
During a question-and-answer session in Parliament, the Minister responded to inquiries from several representatives, highlighting the core elements of the ambitious vision. These elements include accelerating digital transformation, modernizing all branches of the transportation system, and enhancing air connectivity, particularly in underserved regions. The goal is to ensure service integration and promote economic development across all Algerian states.
Minister Saayoud underscored that the government-led initiative prioritizes digitization as a fundamental driver for improving public services and simplifying citizens’ lives. As part of this digital transformation, 132 land stations have been equipped with electronic payment systems (TPE), with 66 stations fully operational across the country.
Furthermore, the “Mahatati” platform, developed by SOGRAL, has been launched as the first national platform providing real-time flight tracking, seat availability information, and immediate reporting of any safety concerns affecting passengers. Self-service kiosks have also been installed for ticket purchases, further enhancing convenience and efficiency.
The comprehensive plan signals a significant commitment to modernizing Algeria’s transportation sector and leveraging technology to improve the lives of its citizens.
