Algiers, Algeria – The Algiers Judicial Council officially inaugurated the 2025/2026 judicial year today, Thursday, in a formal ceremony presided over by the President of the Algiers Judicial Council, Mohamed Boudrbala.
The inauguration was attended by the Attorney General at the Algiers Judicial Council, Mohamed El-Kamel Ben Boudiaf, along with representatives from local authorities, judicial bodies, the Judges’ Syndicate, the Bar Association, and representatives from security and military agencies, as well as justice officials.
The opening ceremony marks the official commencement of judicial activities for the coming year within the Algiers jurisdiction. Similar ceremonies were also held across all judicial councils nationwide, in accordance with Article 5, Paragraph 2, of Organic Law No. 22-10 dated June 9, 2022, pertaining to judicial organization.
The nationwide inauguration follows the national opening of the judicial year 2025-2026, which took place last Sunday at the Supreme Court. The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in his capacity as President of the Supreme Judicial Council, oversaw the proceedings, formally signaling the start of the new judicial year at the highest level of the Algerian justice system.
The annual inauguration serves as a symbolic and practical starting point, setting the stage for the administration of justice across the country for the year ahead. The judiciary is expected to address key issues and challenges facing the legal system in Algeria during this period.
