55 Wildfires Extinguished Across Algeria in 24 Hours

November 15, 2025 – Algerian Civil Protection units successfully extinguished 55 wildfires across several provinces within a 24-hour period. The blazes, which erupted between November 14th and 15th, 2025, affected forests, scrubland, and thickets in various regions of the country.

Firefighters tackled multiple incidents in the Tipaza province, including areas in Douar Boukhlidja (Larhat), Ammarcha Forest (Moussaoulem), Bouzoula Forest (Hadjout), Choula Forest (Beni Milleuk), and Douar El Ikhoua Mersli (Moussaoulem).

In Medea province, fires were put out in Khazroun (El Hamdania), Hammam Essalihine (Berrouaghia), and Ben Saleh (El Houidhane).

Tizi Ouzou province saw firefighting operations in Sidi Ali Bounab (Tadmait), Ihamzioune village (Azeffoun), National Route 24 (Afliissen), and Ighzer Mahdi (Beni Ziki).

Civil Protection teams also extinguished fires in Ain Defla, specifically in Oued El Khemis (Ain Bouyahia) and a private forest belonging to the Takour family (Tacheta Zougagha). A fire in Oued Ouatar (Beni Haoua) in Chlef province was also successfully contained.

The province of Bejaia experienced a high number of fires, with teams responding to incidents in Boukhiama, El Merdj Ouamane and Aghil Ouzegane (Amizour), Mesbah and Djermana (Aokas), Tizarar and Essour Ait Mbarek (Ait Smail), Ighil Imikher (Akfadou), Kefrida (Taskriout), Ammerath (Barbacha), Azagar (Kherrata), and Ait Bouchrit (Souk El Thenine).

In Jijel province, a fire was extinguished in Tafaghout (Khiri Oued Adjoul). Additional fires were put out in Bouaidel – Tala Mehdi village (Amal), the entrance to Ouled Aissa, and Ouled Aissa (Ouled Aissa municipality) in Boumerdes, as well as a fire in Aftis village (Boucandas) in Setif province.

Furthermore, Civil Protection personnel successfully extinguished fires in the Bourouis quarry area (El Hadaiek) and Lahjajmia (Kerkera) in Skikda. A fire in the Bouzouri area (Ouled Attia) remains under surveillance. Two fires were also extinguished in Bounadja Forest and Fadj El Besbes (Guerarim Gouga) in Mila province. Fires were also tackled in the heavy weight road area, Mchattat Oukhenfet Ennar (Mechrouha), and El Maida (Sedrata) in Souk Ahras, as well as a fire in Djebel Bougfafer (El Houidjebat) in Tebessa, and a fire in Ferkoua (Boukram) in Bouira province.
