The Secretary-General of the National Democratic Rally (RND), Mounther Boudhen, has called for a comprehensive investigation into the recent spate of fires that have affected several regions of the country. Speaking at a public gathering, Boudhen emphasized the importance of uncovering the circumstances surrounding these events to prevent future occurrences.
Boudhen also stated that the RND anticipates the launch of a national dialogue process in the first quarter of 2026. He believes this initiative will create new opportunities to strengthen national consensus and unite efforts to serve the country’s best interests. The Secretary-General expressed the party’s confidence in President Tebboune’s wisdom and ability to take measures supporting amnesty for humanitarian cases and embrace all citizens.
Algeria in an Era of Wisdom
In his address, Boudhen stressed that Algeria is currently experiencing a period where reason prevails, and doors of hope are opening for those who have erred due to momentary passion or legal transgression. He argued that this approach strengthens national unity, promotes reconciliation, and puts an end to attempts to spread despair and frustration. He also called for respecting the institutions of the state, the pillars of national identity, and the rule of law, considering them essential for establishing a calm and stable political climate.
Presidential Clemency Praised
Boudhen defended the presidential pardon for humanitarian reasons, calling it a legal, constitutional, and diplomatic practice used in countries worldwide. He cited examples such as Germany and Turkey in the case of journalist Deniz Yücel, where the German President intervened with the Turkish government to secure his release. He also mentioned Spain and China in 2011, when the Spanish King requested the Chinese President to pardon a Spanish citizen, which was granted.
