Ben Guerina: Tech Investment Key to Combating Smuggling

In Salah, October 17, 2025 – Abdelkader Ben Guerina, head of the National Construction Movement, emphasized the need for enhanced local development, youth empowerment, and comprehensive support during a public gathering held Thursday evening in In Salah.

Addressing attendees at the “Ben Baba Sidi Ababa” youth center, Ben Guerina highlighted the significance of developing southern regions, particularly In Salah, noting its diverse natural resources that position it as a potential “pillar of the national economy.” He stressed that realizing this potential hinges on diversifying investment opportunities and prioritizing the engagement and support of young people.

Turning to the issue of smuggling, Ben Guerina asserted that combating this phenomenon requires a comprehensive national coordination between the state and its citizens, coupled with increased investment in technology. This, he argued, is essential for protecting Algeria’s borders and ensuring national security.

“The south of our nation has become a frontline in the fight against organized crime networks,” Ben Guerina stated, underscoring the need for close cooperation between state institutions and the community. He emphasized that a united front is crucial in addressing the evolving threats facing the region.

Concluding his address, Ben Guerina reiterated his call for unified efforts to confront various challenges, particularly as the nation commemorates National Emigration Day, marking the anniversary of the October 17, 1961, massacres. He stressed the importance of remembering the sacrifices of the past while working together to build a stronger and more secure future for Algeria. Ben Guerina’s remarks signal a renewed focus on technological advancement and community involvement in addressing key national challenges.
