President Approves Creation of 11 New Provinces

Algiers, Algeria – In a move aimed at bolstering regional development and improving public services, the President has approved the elevation of eleven administrative districts to full provincial status. The decision was ratified during the latest Council of Ministers meeting.

The newly designated provinces are: Aflou, Barika, Ksar Chellala, Messaad, Ain Oussera, Boussaada, El Bayadh Sidi Cheikh, El Kantara, Bir El Ater, Ksar El Boukhari, and El Aricha. These districts, primarily located in the High Plateaus and Southern regions of Algeria, will now possess greater administrative autonomy and resources.

The initiative is expected to significantly enhance decentralization, enabling these regions to address local needs more effectively and accelerate socio-economic development. The move will empower local administrations with the necessary tools to manage resources and respond more efficiently to the concerns of their citizens.

Following the approval, the President instructed relevant authorities to immediately initiate the necessary administrative procedures. This includes coordinating with both houses of Parliament to ensure the smooth and timely implementation of the provincial upgrades. The goal is to ensure these changes are enacted as quickly as possible.
