Algerian Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production Ali Oun met with a delegation from the Chinese JAC Group and EMIN AUTO Company on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. The meeting discussed the progress of the JAC car manufacturing project in Algeria.
JAC is a Chinese automaker that produces passenger cars and commercial vehicles. The company’s partnership with EMIN AUTO will see the construction of a new factory in Ain Temouchent, Algeria. The factory is expected to have an annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles.
The delegation from JAC told Minister Oun that the project is making good progress. The factory’s structures are complete, and the equipment is being installed. The factory is expected to begin production in the first quarter of 2024.
The meeting also discussed the import of JAC cars to Algeria in 2023-2024. The minister said that a portion of these vehicles will be available for sale before the end of this year.
Minister Oun reaffirmed the government’s support for the JAC project. He urged JAC to fulfill its commitments and to accelerate the pace of production. He said that the JAC project will help to meet the demand for cars in Algeria and to boost the country’s economy.
