Water Disruptions Hit Several Algiers Municipalities

Algiers, Algeria – Residents in several municipalities within the capital city are experiencing water service interruptions today, according to an announcement from the water and sanitation company, SEAAL.

The disruption is attributed to a significant leak detected in a primary water pipeline located on Rue Karim Belkacem in the municipality of Algiers Centre. The leak, measuring 200mm in diameter, necessitated immediate repair work, leading to the suspension of water supply to numerous neighborhoods.

The affected areas within the Sidi M’Hamed municipality include key locations such as Rue des Martyrs, Didouche Mourad, the Troller district, Ghermoul, Mohamed Touimer, Hussein Beladjall, and Rue Youssef Bouchakour. In the municipality of Algiers Centre, the water cuts impact Rue Karim Belkacem, Rue Blaise Pascal, the Barnave district, the Masbalin district, Rue Mohamed V, Mokhtar Abdelatif, the Brothers Berzouane, and the Sacré-Cœur area.

SEAAL has assured customers residing in these areas that water distribution will gradually resume according to the usual schedule starting tomorrow, Thursday. The company emphasized its commitment to completing the necessary repairs as quickly as possible to minimize inconvenience to residents.
