Israeli Army Issues Evacuation Order in Southern Lebanon

Beirut, Lebanon – The Israeli military issued an urgent warning to residents of several buildings in two villages in southern Lebanon earlier today, demanding immediate evacuation ahead of planned strikes. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated in a press release that they intend to target what they described as “military infrastructure” belonging to Hezbollah throughout the region.

The evacuation order specifically targeted residents of designated buildings and adjacent structures within the villages of Deir Kifa and Chhour, as indicated on accompanying maps released by the IDF. The military cited alleged attempts by Hezbollah to rebuild its activities in the area as justification for the impending strikes, stating that the operation is intended to “deal with prohibited attempts by Hezbollah to reconstruct its activities in the area.”

Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah have remained high following the large-scale conflict that erupted in October 2023 and escalated into a full-blown war by September 2024. That conflict resulted in the deaths of over 4,000 people and left approximately 17,000 others injured.

Furthermore, allegations have surfaced regarding repeated Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement, which has been in effect with Hezbollah since November 2024. Reports indicate over 4,500 breaches of the agreement, resulting in numerous casualties. DZWatch has been independently tracking these ongoing violations.

Israel continues to occupy five Lebanese hills in the south, seized during the last war, in defiance of the ceasefire agreement. They also maintain control over other Lebanese territories occupied for decades, further fueling regional instability. The current evacuation order and planned strikes risk escalating tensions and undermining the fragile peace between the two sides.
