Jelfa Leads Nation in Agricultural Electrification Project

Jelfa, Algeria – More than 12,000 agricultural farms in the Jelfa province have been connected to the electricity grid as part of a national program launched in 2022. Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal, announced the achievement today, positioning Jelfa as the leading province nationwide in this initiative.

The national program aims to enhance agricultural productivity and efficiency by providing reliable access to electricity for farms across the country. The connection of these farms in Jelfa is expected to significantly boost agricultural output and improve the livelihoods of farmers in the region.

“This accomplishment in Jelfa demonstrates the commitment of the government to supporting the agricultural sector and promoting sustainable development,” Minister Adjal stated during his visit to the province. He further emphasized the importance of providing farmers with the necessary resources to modernize their operations and increase their competitiveness.

The electrification project involves the installation of new power lines and substations to connect remote farms to the national grid. The Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies is working closely with local authorities and electricity distribution companies to ensure the timely and efficient implementation of the program.

The initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, creating new job opportunities and stimulating investment in the agricultural sector. Furthermore, it will contribute to reducing reliance on fossil fuels and promoting the use of renewable energy sources in agriculture.

The success in Jelfa serves as a model for other provinces to follow, as the government aims to extend the electrification program to all agricultural regions of Algeria. The ultimate goal is to transform the agricultural sector into a modern and sustainable industry that contributes to the country’s economic diversification and food security.
