Ooredoo Honors Journalistic Excellence and Rising Student Talent

Algiers, November 19, 2025 – Ooredoo celebrated journalistic excellence and recognized the next generation of talent at its annual awards ceremony held last night at the Sheraton Hotel in Algiers. The event honored the winners of the 18th edition of the ‘ الإعلام Star’ journalism competition and the 2nd edition of the ‘Rising Star’ student competition.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Culture and Arts, Malika Ben Doudou, alongside other high-ranking officials, key players from various sectors, prominent media figures, and experts in technology and digital transformation. Ooredoo Algeria’s General Manager, Rony Tohme, and other company executives were also present to welcome the guests.

The judging panels for both competitions, led by Younes Karrar for the ‘ الإعلام Star’ award and Nadia Laabidi Sharabi for the ‘Rising Star’ award, expressed their admiration for the quality of work submitted by the participants. This year’s theme, ‘Digital Transformation in Algeria in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Challenges, Stakes, and Prospects,’ sparked insightful and innovative contributions.

Judges emphasized the professional and transparent nature of the deliberations, ensuring a fair and impartial evaluation process for all participants. In addition to receiving a commemorative trophy, the winners of the ‘ الإعلام Star 2025’ competition were awarded significant monetary prizes.

The prize breakdown was as follows: First Place – 500,000 DZD, Second Place – 300,000 DZD, and Third Place – 200,000 DZD. From a pool of 158 participants, 12 winners were selected across four main categories:

Written Press (General and Specialized): First Place – Nadia Slimani (Echourouk El Youm), Second Place – Hank Djamel Eddine (El Heddaf El Djadid), Third Place – Iman Kimouche (Echourouk El Youm).

Electronic Media: First Place – Abdelkader Boumatea (Inter News), Second Place – Zoubir Fadel (Ana Aljazair), Third Place – Srour Boukezber (Tadamsa News).
