Vietnamese PM’s Visit to Algeria Ushers in New Era of Relations

Algeria and Vietnam are poised to enter a new phase of strengthened bilateral ties following the official visit of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Algiers. The announcement was made by Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung in Algiers on Wednesday.

Following a meeting between Prime Minister Chinh and Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Foreign Minister Trung, speaking on behalf of the Prime Minister, characterized the visit as highly successful. He emphasized that the most significant outcome was the agreement to elevate the existing bilateral relationship to a strategic partnership.

“Algeria is Vietnam’s first strategic partner in Africa, reflecting the depth of the historical ties between our two nations,” stated Minister Trung. He further highlighted that this elevation in relations signifies the positive development witnessed in recent years and underscores the mutual commitment to strengthening cooperation for the benefit of both populations and to promote peace and stability in their respective regions.

Minister Trung noted the fruitful discussions held between the Vietnamese delegation and their Algerian counterparts. He reiterated that this official visit marks the beginning of a new chapter in the historical relationship between the two countries, promising to enhance, deepen, and broaden cooperation across various sectors. He also acknowledged the mutual support extended by both nations throughout their shared history.

This strategic partnership is expected to unlock new opportunities for collaboration in areas such as trade, investment, and cultural exchange, further solidifying the bond between Algeria and Vietnam.
