Algiers – Fifteen provinces in Algeria are bracing for heavy thunderstorms expected to begin tomorrow, Thursday, according to the national weather service. A special weather advisory has been issued, forecasting significant rainfall and potential flooding in affected areas. The alert remains in effect until Saturday.
The provinces of Tipaza, Algiers, Blida, Bouira, and the northern parts of Medea are predicted to receive rainfall amounts ranging from 30 to 40 millimeters, with the possibility of exceeding 50 millimeters in some localized areas. These conditions are expected to persist from 6:00 PM on Thursday until 6:00 AM on Saturday.
Furthermore, the provinces of Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, northern Setif, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, and El Tarf are forecast to experience even heavier thunderstorms. Rainfall accumulations are anticipated to be between 40 and 50 millimeters, with potential peaks reaching 70 millimeters or more in certain locations. This period of intense weather activity is expected to last from 6:00 PM on Thursday until 12:00 PM on Saturday.
