Algeria, Vietnam Explore Enhanced Police Cooperation

Algiers – Algeria and Vietnam have engaged in discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the realm of law enforcement and the fight against organized crime. The meeting took place on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Interior.

Mr. Mahmoud Djamaa, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, received Mr. Pham Thi Tuong, Deputy Minister of Public Security of Vietnam, in Algiers. The discussions centered on identifying and implementing strategies to enhance collaboration between the two nations’ police forces.

Combating transnational organized crime was a key focus of the meeting. Both parties acknowledged the growing threat posed by criminal networks operating across borders and the need for a coordinated international response. They explored potential avenues for joint operations, intelligence sharing, and capacity building initiatives.

The discussions also touched upon other areas of mutual interest, including training programs for law enforcement personnel and the exchange of best practices in crime prevention.
