Massive Drug Destruction: Over 13 Tons of Cannabis Destroyed

Algiers – Authorities have destroyed a massive quantity of illicit drugs seized across the country, the Ministry of National Defense announced today. The operation, conducted on Wednesday, involved the incineration of over 13 tons of processed cannabis (kif), more than 673 kilograms of cocaine, and in excess of 15 million psychotropic tablets.

The destruction took place during regional operations organized to eliminate narcotics confiscated throughout various military districts. The Ministry of National Defense confirmed the details in a statement released earlier today. This large-scale destruction highlights the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse within the nation.

The seizure and subsequent destruction of these drugs represent a significant blow to organized crime networks operating within and around the country. The authorities continue to strengthen border security and enhance intelligence gathering to disrupt the flow of illegal substances.

The coordinated effort demonstrates the commitment of the Algerian government to protecting its citizens from the harmful effects of drug abuse and the associated criminal activities. The fight against drug trafficking remains a top priority, with continuous operations and international cooperation aimed at dismantling drug networks and preventing the proliferation of illegal substances.

The Ministry of National Defense reiterated its determination to continue its efforts in combating all forms of crime and securing the nation’s borders. Further details regarding the specific locations of the destruction operations were not disclosed for security reasons.
