Algiers – The Algerian national football team coach, Madjid Bougherra, has stated that the recent training camp in Cairo, Egypt, was primarily designed to provide players with ample playing time in preparation for the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, scheduled from December 1st to 18th.
Speaking to DZWatch, Bougherra emphasized the importance of giving as many players as possible the opportunity to showcase their abilities and gain valuable match experience. This approach, he explained, is crucial for building a competitive squad capable of performing well in the upcoming tournament.
“The objective of the Cairo training camp was simple: to give the players sufficient time on the pitch,” Bougherra stated. “We wanted to assess their fitness levels, tactical understanding, and overall performance in a competitive environment. This allowed us to make informed decisions regarding team selection for the FIFA Arab Cup.”
The training camp included several friendly matches, providing the coaching staff with further insights into the players’ capabilities and their ability to adapt to different playing styles. Bougherra expressed satisfaction with the progress made during the camp, highlighting the players’ commitment and dedication.
The FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 is a significant event for Algerian football, and Bougherra and his team are determined to make a strong impression. The focus on player development and providing opportunities for game time underscores their commitment to building a cohesive and competitive squad capable of challenging for the title.
The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has fully supported Bougherra’s approach, recognizing the importance of thorough preparation and player assessment in achieving success on the international stage.
